Sport climbing is a discipline that developed from alpinism, and it describes the free mastering of climbing directions without using technical climbing equipment, but the equipment is used to prevent possible falls. Unlike alpinism, the meaning of sport climbing is to overcome the most difficult details of the rock with "free technique" regardless of the height of the ascent.
Within the Durmitor National Park, you have the opportunity to try sport climbing on the natural rocks of Pirlitor, which are located 11 km from Žabljak, on the edge of the Tara canyon.
There are two walls on that site with directions suitable for both beginners and experienced climbers.
The East Wall is a simple, sloping rock ideal for beginners. There you will find six climbing routes with difficulties between 3 and 4+ (French scale), all around 10 m high. The West Wall is a vertical, articulated cliff with fourteen long directions, with weights from 5b to 7b + and a height of up to 30 meters.
Both walls are equipped with the safest sports climbing equipment.
"Via Ferrata" is located on Uvita greda, on the stretch Sedlo-Bobotov. The ascent is about 200m, and it is fun for both experienced mountaineers and all lovers of adventure and nature. Climbing is fully secured and no knowledge or professionalism is required to enjoy the via ferrata. The system consists of hanging by means of 2 carabiners that are on the safety belt of each participant, a safety helmet and protective gloves. Via Ferrata or iron road is a secured path in the rock consisting of a safety cable and safety pegs that are fixed in the rock through which the cable is passed.
Ziplining is an activity that has become very popular in the last few years. Zipline flight takes place when the flyer, hanging on a cable or mountain rope, flies between platforms. The most attractive locations for placing rigs are usually canyons, forests with tall trees, or hilly terrain. In Žabljak, this type of activity takes place on the bridge over the Đurđevića Tara.
