ANNOUNCE: Fifth BLACKLAKE Xtreme Triathlon Montenegro 2023

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, Žabljak will host one of the most exciting and demanding sports events of the year - BLACKLAKE Xtreme Triathlon.

This special event will bring together 60 outstanding triathletes from 30 different countries of the world, thus proving that sport has no borders. Competitors coming from distant countries such as Brazil, South Africa, the United States of America, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic are just a few who will further enrich this international sports spectacle.

The triathlon will start at an unusually early hour, precisely at 4:30 in the morning, when the competitors will swim in the unique Black Lake. Additional charm is added to this segment of the race by the natural bridge that competitors have to cross between Crni Jezera and Mali Jezera, thus adding an element of unpredictability and excitement.

After the exhausting swimming part, the triathletes will head to the cycling part of the race, which covers a total of 182 kilometers and leads from Žabljak through Boan, Mioska, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Đurđević Tara back to the Savin kuk ski resort.

The first part of the route is characterized by pleasant landscapes and many descents, but the participants also expect a demanding ride through the deepest canyon in Europe - the canyon of the Tara River and the final climb to Žabljak.

The final stage, the race part, is 42.2 kilometers long and leads through beautiful but also challenging and extreme mountain trails via Sedel, Zeleni Vir, Katun Lokvica and further along Mlinski Potok via Bosača and Nadgora with the goal at Black Lake. With a total ascent of 1,700 meters, this part of the race is a real treat for nature lovers. In order to complete the race, participants will need at least one companion who will assist them throughout the day with their needs for food, drinks, etc.
