30 years since the expedition to Bobot's hip: The memorial plaque to Jovan Laušević was discovered

On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the expedition of teacher Jovan Laušević to Bobotov kuk, the first local author who wrote about Montenegrin mountains, which is considered the beginning of modern mountaineering, a memorial plaque was unveiled yesterday in his honor on Velika previa at the foot of the highest Durmitor peak.

At the same time, the 41st "Danilo Jauković Memorial" was performed.

On this occasion, a formal academy was organized by the Mountaineering Association of Montenegro in cooperation with the Municipality of Žabljak, JP National Parks of Montenegro, Club of Military Mountaineers "Kapetan", PK "Durmitor" and SRD "Montenegro Team".

The meeting in the Žabljak Municipality Hall was also attended by the doyen of Montenegrin mountaineering Miodrag-Mijo Kovačević, citizens and a large number of relatives of Jovan Laušević.

The President of the Mountaineering Association, Dragan Bulatović, reminded that Jovan Laušević published his travel report about Durmitor and other Montenegrin mountains in five installments in Glas Crnogorca, which makes him a forerunner of modern mountaineering and obligates his work to find its rightful place.

The director of the local Tourist Organization, Vanja Krgović Šarović, along with the work of Jovan Laušević, reminded of July 9, 1977, when General Danilo Jauković died while climbing Bobot's hip, marking the commemoration of the battle on Sutjeska and the 13-day hike from Perućac, where the famous battle took place , to Durmitor.

The former president of the Mountaineering Association, Mijo Kovačević, recalled the development of mountaineering in Montenegro and pointed out that the founders of modern mountaineering were Stojan Cerović, Branislav Cerović and academician Branimir Gušić.

"Mountain lodges in Durmitor were built on the idea of Stojan Cerović. In 1935, Branislav started marking the first trails and placing the first boxes and stamps on the peaks of Durmitor, and in 1938, together with academician Gušić, he published the first brochure about Durmitor. Behind Branislav Cerović is the capital work "Guide through Durmitor", which was written in three editions in Serbo-Croatian, English and German. His work includes several mountain shelters and a detailed mountain map, which is still an example of quality educational material today," said Kovačević.

Director of JP National Parks of Montenegro Elvir Klica said that the company he manages will gladly accept all activities of this kind and that it is important to preserve the values of this and other national parks through compliance with the rules.

Those present were shown a documentary film made according to the scenario of academician Branimir Gušić in 1930, in which shots of passing through the Durmitor massif dominate.15
