Skrčka Lakes – two mountain lakes surrounded by rocks and the dense forest of Durmitor

Skrka lakes

Located in the heart of Durmitor National Park, the Škrka Lakes – Veliko and Malo – are located in the high mountain valley of Škrka, surrounded by the highest peaks of Durmitor. They can only be reached by hiking along mountain trails.

Veliko Škrčko Lake

Veliko Škrka Lake is located at 1,682 meters above sea level and is among the largest glacial lakes on Durmitor. The lake is permanent, surrounded by the peaks of Prutaš, Bobotov Kuk and Šareni pasovi, which makes it particularly attractive for hikers and photographers. The Škrka mountain lodge is located next to the lake.

Small Škrčko Lake

Malo Škrčko Lake is located at an altitude of 1,711 meters, slightly higher and northeast of Veliko. It is shallower and smaller in area, and occasionally dries up during the summer months. Its location offers peace and an authentic mountain ambiance.

Access and connected trails

There are several trails leading to Škrčke Lakes, and we recommend the following route:

  • Dobri Do - Škrčka gorge - Prutaš - Škrčka jezera

From the Škrka valley, tours can be continued to Black Lake, Sušica Valley and the highest peaks of Durmitor.
