ANNOUNCEMENT: IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT "EMPLOYMENT IS IN NATURE-BOOST THE EMPLOYMENT OF 'HARD TO EMPLOY' GROUPS BY USING NATURAL RESOURCES" STARTS

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION BEGINS,, EMPLOYMENT IS IN NATURE-BOOST THE EMPLOYMENT OF 'HARD TO EMPLOY' GROUPS BY USING NATURAL RESOURCES"

Municipality of Žabljak, 01.11.2023. year, the implementation of the project "Employment is in nature - Boost the employment of 'hard to employ' groups by using natural resources" begins, approved in within the call IPA II Program,,Support for employment, social inclusion and social entrepreneurship''.

The total value of the project is €119,624.96, of which the EU donates €101,681.22 in grants, while participation Municipality of Žabljak, as a leading partner, and Tourist Organization Žabljak, as a co-applicant, 17,943.74€. The duration of the project is 12 months.
By approving this project, the European Union recognized the employment of less employable categories through the preservation of old crafts, the valuable intangible heritage of the Durmitor region and Žabljak.

The project will reconstruct a workshop equipped with machines, in which the production of authentic souvenirs designed by professional designers with characteristic motifs of Durmitor will be organized.

Through a public call, unemployed persons will have the opportunity to apply for training, and to gain knowledge and improve their skills in working on machines, for making items from wool, wood and stone.

The best, after completing the training (six of them), will be employed by the Tourist Organization in the workshop, making souvenirs, and five grants will be awarded for the purchase of machines and equipment for the purpose of producing souvenirs in the value of €5,000, existing craft productions, or beginners who will have the obligation to employ one person from the harder-to-employ category.

By the end of the project, the Souvenir Shop will be built and will start operating, the demand for which is felt among tourists who have been visiting Žabljak for many years.

The workshop and the souvenir shop will continue to operate even after the end of the project, and will become profit centers with recognizable souvenirs, which, due to the beauty of the design and the quality of the workmanship, will have a greater value than the memories.

The souvenir shop will be a sales point around which local and international artists can gather with works inspired by the regions of Durmitor, flora and fauna, history, legends, heroes, famous personalities of these areas.
