This is the list of films that will be shown during the European Film Festival in Žabljak:

"KING OF BELGIUM" 20.07. 8:00 p.m

Countries of origin: Belgium, Netherlands, Bulgaria Genre: Drama, Comedy, Road Movie

King Nicholas III of Belgium is a loner who feels he is living the wrong life. He is going on an official visit to Istanbul with the British director, Duncan Lloyd, who was hired by the Palace to make a documentary that should show the monarch in the best possible light. The king learns that Wallonia, a region in the south of Belgium, has declared independence and he must return home immediately to save the kingdom. He even announced that he would write the speech himself. As they prepare to depart, a solar storm hits the earth and causes a disruption in communications and air traffic. No phone. There are no planes. To make matters worse, security in Turkey rejects the king's proposal to return home by car. However, the king has no intention of sitting around and waiting for the storm to pass, and Lloyd concocts an escape plan that involves floral dresses and singing Bulgarians.

"BLOOD MILK" 21.07. 8:00 p.m

Country of origin: France Genre: Drama

Pierre is a thirty-year-old dairy farmer whose life revolves around the farm he inherited, his sister who is a veterinarian, his parents and cows. When the first cases of the epidemic appear in France, Pierre discovers that one of his cows is infected. The farm is all he has and he will do anything to save it.

"DIAMANTINO" 22.07. 8:00 p.m

Countries of origin: Portugal, France, Brazil Genre: Drama, comedy

Diamantino, the world's biggest soccer star, loses his characteristic feel for the ball and ends his career in disgrace. Searching for a new meaning in life, the international icon embarks on a hilarious odyssey and along the way encounters neo-fascism, the refugee crisis, genetic modifications and the pursuit of the source of wisdom.

"SILENCE OF OTHERS" 07.23. 8:00 p.m

Country of origin: Spain, USA Genre: Documentary

The silence of others reveals the great struggle of the victims of the forty-year Spanish dictatorship under General Franco, who are still seeking justice to this day. Filmed over six years, the film follows survivors as they prepare a revolutionary "Argentine lawsuit" and fight against the silence about crimes against humanity, and portrays a country still divided after four decades of democracy.

"STRANGER IN PARADISE" 07.24. 8:00 p.m

Country of origin: Netherlands Genre: Documentary

In a classroom in Sicily, within the walls of Fortress Europe, newly arrived refugees listen to lectures by a teacher who has some rather unbalanced traits. One moment he ruthlessly rejects the refugees - the next he calmly embraces them. On the border between documentary and fiction, STRANGER IN PARADISE explores the power relations between Europe and refugees. Europe is presented as a teacher who drags his class of refugees into despair. A plea bordering on the immoral; the guilty welcome and the compromise between them that becomes official policy: A STRANGER TO PARADISE is an unflinching cinematic essay on the mechanisms by which Europe meets refugees' need for happiness.

"FAR BARKING OF DOGS" 25.07. 8:00 p.m

Countries of origin: Denmark, Sweden, Finland Genre: Documentary

Ten-year-old Oleg lives in the eastern part of Ukraine - a war zone where explosions often resound. Sometimes these sounds are far away, and sometimes terrifyingly close. Although many have left this dangerous area, Oleg has stayed with his grandmother who has taken care of him since his mother died. They have nowhere to go. While waiting for the war to end, Oleg spends time with his younger cousin Yarik and older boy Kostya. They go on adventures together, talk about what makes a real man, test their limits - but sometimes they go too far. Sticking to Oleg's story, The Distant Barking of Dogs shows the effect war has on children.
