Lake Pošćensko

Pošćensko Lake is situated at an altitude of 1,487 meters, with a maximum depth reaching 3.6 meters. It was formed in the cirques of the village Pošćenje during glacial erosion, making it a significant geological phenomenon. Its natural beauty, surrounded by vast pastures and dense forests, has attracted the attention of many geologists, travelers, and scientists, as well as hikers and tourists fascinated by its landscape.

Not far from the lake is the Stožina peak, which, although not very high (1,908 m), holds a special place in the hearts of nature lovers and hikers. Stožina rises above the green landscapes of the Pošćenska valley and is considered the “gateway” to South Durmitor. From this viewpoint, there is a spectacular panoramic view of many Montenegrin mountains, including Sinjajevina, the Morača mountains, as well as numerous peaks of Durmitor such as Ranisava, Sedlena Greda, Uvita Greda, Šljeme, and Savin Kuk. Also, from Stožina, one can see the surrounding lakes, among which are Vražje Lake, Fish lake, Žabljak, Njegovuđa, as well as Pošćensko Lake and the Pošćenska Valley with its natural treasures.

This location is ideal for anyone who wants to experience untouched nature, enjoy the view, and explore one of the most beautiful parts of Durmitor.
